Student Union at Sunset — “Wait for the light.”

Not only is the Student Union at Oklahoma State University the largest student union building on any college campus in the world, but it recently went through a pretty hefty renovation, and it’s just a five minute drive away.

Full disclosure: I work on campus, so I get to see this building every single day. I get to see it in good light, bad light, meh light — from any angle, and in any lighting pattern imaginable. There are decent shots from just about any corner of the building, and I have caught myself taking it for granted, “Oh, that’s the Union again..” But every once in a while, it does this:

The first half of June 2013 was a personal trip to the peninsula of Sorrento, Italy. I was there with three friends, and we rented an apartment in Sant’Agnello (immediately to the east of the city of Sorrento). We walked pretty much everywhere, shopped at the supermarket, cooked dinner for ourselves half the time, and in all the excitement we changed our itinerary several times — we basically lived there for two weeks. It was as magnificent as it sounds!

Promotion for Talimena Scenic Drive

A few months back, I offered a few photos of the Talimena Scenic Drive back to the drive itself — the non-profit Talimena Scenic Drive Association.

They are going all-out with a new promotion — redesigning their website, uploading new photos to Facebook, the works!

I wish I could give the riders credit too, but they went by while I was taking their photo from the sunroof of my van.

Check out the new site at

Five of my photos are visible from the main page!

Trying something new – I’m not sure what to call this

This is the inevitable marriage of my photographic post-production tools with my painting background. Instead of paint brushes, I “paint” with elements from the rest of my 30,000 photos that didn’t quite make it to the main photo gallery.

Like everything in life, it’s an experiment. I’m slinging stuff on the wall to see what sticks.
